Integration and Synthesis
Leads: Kathryn Janda (UCL) and Rajan Rawal (CEPT)
iNUMBER is an urban systems model in a rapidly evolving context. To be dynamic and responsive to this context, actions will be taken to integrate information beyond iNUMBER’s project boundaries: (1) across the four India/UK energy demand projects under this call; (2) with other ongoing relevant initiatives in India and UK; (3) with relevant international programmes: |
Across the India/UK projects funded by this call, we will foster two way data sharing. For example, our WP3.2 and 3.3 will gather data that may be useful to ZED-I which is focused on peak demand reduction, and vice versa. CEDRI and RESIDE which focus on city technologies will have an intersection with WP2, and vice versa. |
iNUMBER will help to synthesise and advance the broader field of research in and about energy demand reduction in India. iNUMBER partner Radhika Khosla (CPR, Oxford University) and Kathryn Janda (UCL) are curating a special issue of Building Research & Information on “Energy and Climate Change Solutions: India’s Building Stock.” This special issue will be published at the end of 2018 and will describe the state of the art in India’s energy and building research community, including a focus on international collaboration. We will also draw upon the work completed in CBERD on Indian non- residential buildings. This is facilitated by the participation of Prof. Rawal and Prof. Ramamritham in both iNUMBER and CBERD. We will engage with NITI Aayog’s India Energy Security Scenarios (IESS 2047), feed into Mission Innovation activities of India supporting the MNRE i-PHEE program, and other activities. |
Beyond India and UK, iNUMBER will draw from and contribute to other relevant international groups and initiatives. These include the IEA EBC Annex 70 – Building Energy Epidemiology; work by C40 cities on data gathering and benchmarking; and work on the UNEP/OECD/World Bank Green Growth Knowledge Platform. |
